The Arts Council England-funded BookTrust is set to sponsor sample translations of ten children’s books that have not previously made their way into English:

These ten samples, according to a BookTrust release, will be presented to the UK publishing community at a Bologna Book Fair event in April 2017.

Submissions open today!

According to the release:

Four of these titles will be selected as specially commended ‘Honour titles’ and all 10 titles will be available for British publishers to purchase from the rights holders. Titles that are purchased by British publishers will be supported by a £1,500 grant towards marketing and publicity.

Selection and judging will be carried out by a panel of experts, including top children’s translators and children’s book experts.

We are asking publishers, agents and scouts from around the world for submissions of children’s books that are not currently published in English but would be suitable for publishing in the UK. Submissions open on 1 September and close on 26 September 2016.
